@VistitTruckee Instagram Takeover

This spring I was asked by the coordinators of the @visittruckee Instagram account to take over for a weekend, giving me full reign of their account! The POWER!!! Luckily I used it wisely and got a unique opportunity to share with fans of Truckee (hard not to love this place, right?) exactly why I chose Truckee as my home and what it means to me. Good morning #truckee! @jankyhazen here for the weekend, showing off our favorite mountain town in all its glory. I chose to live here because of the community, Donner Lake, and fun restaurants, bars and shops, but mainly for the incredible access to the mountains that surround us. We have endless adventures waiting for us as soon as we step out our front door, and I've spent spent years doing just that - balancing work and play (with the scales tipped a bit more to the play side). . This past winter brought record snowfall in February, making for all-time conditions in the mountains and lots of smiling faces! This video was filmed entirely in the backcountry surrounding Truckee - unbelievable terrain right at our fingertips. It's FRIDAY! @jankyhazen here for the weekend, I've got more adventures and good times to share, but first - one more from this past winter because it was so EPIC! My friend @ericbskis laying down a tasty turn in the backcountry around Truckee. . This is a point I'll be harping on a bit this weekend: Truckee is an awesome community that's smack dab in the middle of one of our country's most beautiful playgrounds. The number of world-class ski resorts and amount of amazing backcountry terrain within a short drive is mind boggling! Happy Saturday all you Truckee lovers! The work week is over and it's time to loosen up and hit the slopes, and @jankyhazen has just the inspiration you need. As soon as spring hits the resorts around the Truckee area experience a transformation - the sun comes out, the stuffy outerwear is gone and you see costumes, bathing suits, straight skis, sun burns and most importantly lots of smiles! . @blasttony typically leads the charge in this aspect, embodying the fun throwback look and living the 'Retro Ski Dream' to the extreme - it's hard to catch him on anything other than his Atomic 205 straight skis once the sun comes out! @jankyhazen checking in again on another stunning #spring day here in #truckee! This time of year we get to enjoy warm weather, ample sunshine, spring skiing and longer days, much needed after a long winter. . All that sunshine allows for those working midweek jobs the opportunity to get outside and play after work - much like @lawdogkeenan and #philnate pictured here. Keenan and Nate moved to Truckee after college and found great jobs in town - Keenan is an attorney and Nate is a math and science teacher at the @sugarbowlacademy on #donnersummit. They booked it out of the office and hiked a short distance up #donnerpass to build a jump together, just like they've done for years. The payoff: epic sunset shots a short distance from work. I think it's safe to say they've made Truckee their #basecampforabiglife! #truckeelife #truckeelove #visittruckee #sunset #extreme

@jankyhazen checking in on a beautiful Sunday morning with thoughts of summer, which naturally lead to daydreaming about biking... . The mountain biking trails around Truckee are world class, and nobody knows them better than @jeremywbenson - he wrote the book on them, literally. I followed him around for a day or two on the trail networks just outside of town in Johnson Canyon north of #donnerlake, an incredibly scenic area filled with amazing trails for biking, running, walking, and taking in epic views of #castlepeak. A resident of #truckee, Jeremy embodies the #basecampforabiglife. As an athlete, gear tester and author of bike and backcountry ski guide books, he's made a living out of doing what he loves in the mountains. And what better place to call home for that kind of work? Go find his guide books in any local gear shop or bookstore, or find him on the local trails if you can keep up! #truckeelife #donnersummit #johnsoncanyon #mountainbiking #getoutside #summer

I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend in Truckee! @jankyhazen here to leave you with one more thought of summer, because I think we're all looking forward to it. Wildflower season will be upon us before you know it, and make sure to take a day or two to get out into the north side of Castle Peak. It's a truly stunning area right in our backyard and is one of my top spots for seeing the spring blooms! .
